  I use an ultrasound machine to scan the ribeye of feedlot cattle at re-implanting and combine the information with grid premiums and discounts as well as cost estimations and the current weight to project out the most profitable days on feed for each individual calf.  It takes 1 or 2 minutes per head to do and each animal is tagged with a colored tag corresponding with it’s projected days on feed.  Included in the service are detailed reports as well as a simple load out report for quick reference.

The greatest benefit to scanning is saving feed by selling cattle at a target endpoint before they waste resources and become inefficient.  The second benefit is hitting grid premiums.
